Victorinox supports the expedition since 2005. Here one of Sabine and Dario’s many experiences with their great products:
“In a big storm on the Southern Pacific the rudder system broke in a collision with a floating container and the Genoa sail blow open. The only way to steer a boat without the rudder is to trim the sails. So the sails were our last chance. Thanks to the handy «Swiss Tool» from Victorinox, I was able to cut the rope on the top of the 20 m high mast. All this in the wild Southern ocean and finally the sail was free. We were able to go back on course. After this storm we optimized Pachamama to a vessel that can operate fully autonomous (renewable energies) with maximum safety in the toughest marine environments.
The Victorinox Army Knife was also handy to cut the umbilical cords and give birth to our 5 children born on the expedition. Victorinox became much more than a partner, – we became part of the Victorinox Family, – a great company that cares about our planet.” Sabine & Dario Schwoerer
